One of the longest-running and most well-known diets is the Slim Fast diet. Practically everyone will have heard of this at some point in their lives. Slim Fast is a diet which utilizes an own-brand “milkshake” of a very similar style to those which are offered by Herbalife. With so many diets available it’s difficult to know who came up with an idea first, but this isn’t really important.

There are many who speak of this diet as an almost miraculous process, but for others it isn’t such a great experience. As with everything, different people will feel differently about the diet.

However, there is no denying that it works fantastically well for some. With Slim Fast dieters who must miss their normal breakfast and lunch and instead drink the Slim Fast milkshake along with eating a little bit fruits.

At the end of the day a normal dinner is permitted which can include anything you like provided it is in moderation. Some have stated that this leaves dieters nutritionally deficient, but the milkshakes contain nutritional additives such as vitamins and minerals, and at dinner time eating a few vegetables along with some fruit should ensure you stay fairly healthy.

Drink at least 6 glasses of Water per day

Provided that your dinner-time meal isn’t simply a plate of fries and a steak every day you shouldn’t have any problems with keeping healthy throughout the diet. In addition to the milkshakes and meal requirements, it is also advised that dieters drink around six to eight glasses of water per day.

This helps the weight-loss process and is also good for you in its own right. Drinking plenty of water ensures that you stay hydrated and also helps your system keep itself clean and functional. Alongside this the program requires regular exercise.

Although some have criticized this aspect owing to the low calorie intake of the diet, this is actually one of the most effective measures for weight loss.

Whilst it is unhealthy to exercise too much when you have no energy, someone who is overweight and is trying to lose it will simply burn off body-fat through exercising, which replaces the calories missing from the diet. If there is a difficulty with this diet program it is primarily in the fact that those who want to go on the diet must do so alone.

The diet is not a group activity, or a club, and so keeping enthusiastic can be difficult. It calls for a significant amount of mental discipline which is a mixed blessing. Many people will grow through this process, learning how to control themselves, and remain determined through difficulty by themselves.

Sticking to the diet by yourself can make you a stronger person. However, there are many people who will not be able to cope with the difficulty of the diet by themselves, and without support will quickly fail.

For those people this diet will be a failure. If you are the kind of person who needs a lot of support from others in order to cope with difficult circumstances then this diet may not work for you (although that shouldn’t stop you from trying).

However, if you would relish the challenge and appreciate the mental benefits that this diet can provide along with the physical ones then this is an ideal programme for you.
