Bad news if you plan to have two 5G phone lines on your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro: this is not possible. An internal document intended for Apple employees shows that in this configuration, the smartphone automatically switches to 4G LTE.
Both lines are activated by a traditional SIM card, but also by an eSIM, a handy feature that first appeared on the iPhone XS. The document also states that 5G is available if the user only uses the device’s eSIM. But then he has to remove the SIM card.
According to our colleagues at MacRumors, who had access to a presentation from the operator Verizon, Apple should make an update later in the year to make 5G available in the case of a configuration with SIM and eSIM enabled .
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will ship from October 23.
