Bitdefender is increasing its independent offerings from its software suite. The Romanian publisher has just launched two new services in quick succession. The first is “Premium VPN”, a consumer virtual private network that builds on Hotspot Shield’s infrastructure and its proprietary Catapult Hydra protocol. The latter would have the advantage of being 25% faster than OpenVPN technology.
To be able to assert itself in an already very competitive market, Bitdefender relies above all on a low price, namely 5.99 euros per month or 49.99 euros per year. Which is about 40% cheaper than most of the competition. Moreover, Bitdefender promises that its offer is “Compatible with US Netflix”.
The second offer is a mobile application called “Yonly”. It is a TLS encrypted DNS service with a layer of URL filtering to eliminate links to tricked sites. The encrypted DNS function is completely free and helps ensure the confidentiality of this browsing data. URL filtering costs $ 3.99 per month, but this feature is free until January 15, 2021.
