After a breakaway, the Colombian Daniel Martinez won Friday the 13th stage of the Tour de France 2020. Primoz Roglic reinforced his yellow jersey, while the French Guillaume Martin and Romain Bardet conceded time.
It was the best stage of the second week of the Tour de France. It was also the one with the most vertical drop on the 2020 course. Friday 11 September, Colombian Daniel Martinez (Education First) won the 13e stage at the top of Puy Mary (Cantal), at the end of a long breakaway that the favorites let slip.
The recent winner of the Critérium du Dauphiné won at the age of 24 his first stage on the Big Loop, beating in a two-man sprint the German of Bora-Hansgrohe Lennard Kämna.
Behind, among the favorites, the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo) consolidated his yellow jersey by dominating all the other contenders for the title. He sprinted his compatriot Tadej Pogacar (UAE-Emirates) and took time over all the other candidates in the general classification.
Guillaume Martin and Romain Bardet, for their part, were taken down from the first pitches of the penultimate pass and lost their third and fourth place.
