In 2004, a certain Mark Zuckerberg created the website TheFacebook for students. In 2020, Facebook is launching Campus, a section of its site intended for students, with a very flashy advertising.
This section aims to allow students to come into contact according to common interests. This is all the more important in the United States because of the coronavirus crisis, as universities favor home learning and therefore students have less opportunity to meet on campus.
Students must create a new profile in the specific section of Facebook with their university email address and year of graduation. They then have access to a stream reserved for the university, as well as a directory to make contact with other students and online group conversation areas.
Facebook Campus is currently being rolled out to around 30 US universities … but oddly not at Harvard where TheFacebook was born.
