Facebook no longer wants to be a breeding ground for fake news and harmful content. After having limited the ability to forward messages in WhatsApp, Mark Zuckerberg’s social network offers Messenger the same regime, according to him a good way to slow down the distribution of fake news often gone viral.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and elections scheduled in the US and New Zealand, Facebook believes that controlling disinformation has become critical.
To curb the phenomenon, users will only be able to transfer messages in Messenger to a limited extent. It will therefore only be possible to forward a message to a maximum of five recipients.
