FarmVille to quit Facebook for good

FarmVille will have to leave Facebook at the end of the year. This game, which contributed – on its own scale – to the success of Zuckerberg’s social network will no longer be supported by the server infrastructure. Indeed, FarmVille is a game made in Flash, the plug-in from Adobe and Facebook announced last July that it would no longer support it at the end of the year.

Why ? Quite simply because, we remind you, Flash and its history “Flash Player” must die on December 31, 2020, after a long and slow agony.

FarmVille, pioneer of gaming on Facebook

As a reminder, FarmVille was launched in 2009 and experienced a dazzling success : Up to 30 million players played FarmVille every day for the first few years. And, just a few months ago, more than 10 million players continued to cultivate their land, raise their pigs and run their farm (s) every day.

If you are a farmer from the start, know that you will be able to continue making in-app purchases until November 17th. Afterwards, the transaction system will be closed permanently.

Zynga has however announced that a new version of FarmVille will arrive on mobile soon, the third of the name.
