Google Docs for Android now natively edits Microsoft Office files

Users of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides applications used to managing Office documents from their Android smartphone will be delighted. Google is in the process of deploying an update to the various Android applications of its office suite. It allows you to edit, modify and comment natively, any file that has been generated by the Microsoft Office suite.

If the function is already offered on the web version, handling an Office file in Google Docs Android applications looked like a real crossroads. Users had no other solution than to use a third-party tool to convert Office files to a format compatible with Docs, Sheets and Slides.

In addition to being able to edit files created from Microsoft’s office suite, they will also be able to take advantage of change history, real-time collaboration, which was not possible until now.

The arrival of this update is expected to be phased in over the next two weeks for all Gsuite users as well as for users with a personal Google account.
