At 35, Mario is more modern than ever. To celebrate the birthday of the most famous Italian plumber, Nintendo is innovating with its new Switch game, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. This version uses an ingenious mixed reality system: it is a real remote-controlled car equipped with a camera that drives around your living room, while the console screen displays a fully virtual circuit.
The interactions between the two worlds do exist. For example, if your opponent is the victim of your red shell, his car will actually stop for a moment on the physical circuit. To achieve this system, Nintendo relied in part on the know-how of New York-based Velan Studios.
The pack containing the game, a car (Mario or Luigi) and accessories to materialize the circuit will be available on October 16 for $ 99 (the European price has not yet been specified).
