HP adds a new screen size to its premium notebook collection

HP’s Specter x360 14 enriches the manufacturer’s range of hybrid laptops, already made up of two models, a 13 and a 15-inch. First particularity of the latter arrival: its screen with thin edges. It measures 13.5 inches diagonally, is tactile and has a 3: 2 aspect ratio. It therefore displays Windows 10 in 3K + (3000 by 2000 pixels) on a panel which, depending on the version, may be of the OLED type and 100% compatible with the DCI-P3 spectrum.

A software option called Auto Color even allows the screen to match the color temperature displayed according to the apps launched.

Moreover, we also note the presence of a mode Focus which highlights the application you are using and gray out others. To prevent you from being distracted by the arrival of an email, Windows notification or an app.

ISO box, Intel EVO configuration

On the case side, HP has taken the design of other Specters, whose angles are affirmed, without being aggressive. Top left and right corners hide two USB Type-C type sockets Thunderbolt 4. There is also a full-format USB socket, a slot for microSD which, depending on the version, may be compatible with a nanoSIM and, finally, a headphone socket. The Specter x360 14 would weigh 1.3 kilograms according to HP and its thickness would not exceed 1.7 cm.

Clearly, the Specter x360 14 includes a large panel of processors Intel Tiger Lake, 11th Generation Cores, an Intel Wi-Fi 6 module and should last up to 17 hours on battery power. Some configurations sold in the United States will have up to 16 GB of memory and 1 TB of SSD supported by 32 GB of Optane memory. It’s a safe bet that it will be the same in France, but we are still awaiting confirmation from HP.

Three other ultraportables go under the Intel EVO banner

If HP has focused on this model, the manufacturer has also announced that the new versions of Specter x360 13, Envy x360 13 and the Envy 13 would also adopt Intel’s EVO standard, with the latest Core processors, Wi-Fi 6, Thunderbolt 4, etc. There will even be a 5G version of the Specter x360 13 in 2021 but which remains on a 10th generation processor for its part.
