Five days after taking office, which sparked violent protests in Peru, interim Peruvian President Manuel Merino announced his resignation on Sunday.

The Interim President of Peru, Manuel Merino, announced his resignation, Sunday, November 15, five days after taking office which prompted violent demonstrations.

“I want the whole country to hear that I am presenting my resignation,” Manuel Merino said in a televised address the day after the violent crackdown on demonstrations demanding his departure which left two dead and a hundred injured.
