A few weeks after being sacked by Tottenham, Portuguese technician José Mourinho has been recruited by Roma to coach the first team from next season.
Ousted from Tottenham two weeks ago, the “Special one” has found a club. Jose mourinho will coach AS Roma from next summer for the next three seasons, the Italian club said in a statement on Tuesday (May 4th).
The Portuguese coach, double winner of the Champions League with Porto (2004) and Inter Milan (2010), thus finds Italy after having coached Inter from 2008 to 2010.
He had been sacked from Tottenham on April 19 due to the poor results of the English club. Shortly before, Roma formalized the end of the mission of his compatriot Paulo Fonseca, who had been appointed in June 2019.

For the “Special one”, whose glory has faded over more difficult than brilliant experiences in recent years, it is a return to a championship that has masterfully smiled on him.
In two seasons with Inter, from 2008 to 2010, he thus gleaned two Italian league titles, an Italian Cup, an Italian Supercup and especially the C1, the last coronation of an Italian team in the competition.
“After meeting the owners and Tiago Pinto, I immediately understood how high the ambition of this club is,” responded the Portuguese in the Roma press release announcing his appointment.
AS Rome, currently 7e of Serie A, 9 points behind their hated rival, Lazio, with yet one more game played, no longer has any chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
Heavily beaten in the semi-final first leg of the Europa League at Manchester United (2-6), the Roman club has very little chance of playing in a European Cup next season.
The Giallorossi play their semi-final return Thursday night at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
