It has certainly been a long night for Microsoft engineers. The company faced an outage affecting its Office 365 solution, including Office.com, Outlook.com, Teams, Power Platform and Dynamics365. It was not possible for users to authenticate to open a new session.
Several hours of downtime
The issue began at 9:25 p.m. UTC and was only resolved at 5 a.m., according to a tweet from the Microsoft 365 Status account. Initially, it was a new development deployed on the Azure cloud platform that caused the major bug.
Microsoft therefore had no choice but to rollback to the previous configuration of its servers. Despite this, the normal situation was not instantly restored. Throughout the night, Microsoft communicated on the progress of its repair. A full report will be released by the company within the next 72 hours.
