Samsung’s summer slates have arrived. Here are the new Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 + formalized with great fanfare during the Unpacked conference on Wednesday, August 5, alongside the Samsung Note 20, the Watch 3 as well as the Buds Live.
As rumors and leaks had suggested, these two tablets turn under Android 11 and the Samsung overlay of use. They have a similar technical platform (detailed below), the same S Pen but not the same size or type of screen.
The S7 is an 11-inch model and does indeed offer an 11-inch LPTS panel in 2560 by 1600 pixels (at 120 Hz). The S7 +, for its part, opts for a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED screen (given brightness for 420 cd / m2) whose definition is 2800 by 1752 pixels (at 120 Hz).
On the other hand, whatever the model, the S Pen is magnetized on the back of the slate, on the dark part, located just below the camera modules. We would have loved that Samsung found a way to integrate it into the slate, like on the Galaxy Note 20, also announced today.
The last of the Qualcomm at the helm
Inside the 498 (S7) or 575 (S7 +) gram case is a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+, 6 GB or 8 GB of memory, and between 128 GB and 256 GB of storage depending on the model. MicroSD slots on the two slates will increase these capacities. Clearly, all the applications should run on these two Galaxy Tabs, there is only the storage space that could run out if you are a heavy consumer of applications.
In addition, the Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, as well as optional 4G for the S7 or 5G for the S7 +.
For photos and videos, there are two camera modules on the back with a 13 MPixels (f / 2.0) sensor on one side and 5 MPixels ultra wide-angle (f / 2.2) on the other. The whole would be able to shoot videos in 4K at 30 frames / sec.). On the front, an 8 MPixels sensor is hidden behind the camera module.
As there is a little less space in the S7 case than in the S7 +, the two batteries are of different capacity: 7,080 mAh for the small model against 10,090 mAh for the larger one.
In addition, the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 + will be compatible with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service, Microsoft’s streaming video game platform with which Samsung has reached a new milestone in its partnership for the launch of the Galaxy Note 20.
Finally, it should be noted that the Galaxy Tab can serve as a second screen for your Windows 10 PC via an update that will be deployed soon (no date given during the event).
