This is one of the great novelties of iOS 14, awaited for years by users: the possibility of choose a default alternative to the Safari browser and the Mail application.
Except that Apple clearly hasn’t seen a major bug in its system. Each time you restart, the settings are canceled: Safari and Mail again become the default applications.

This holds true with all market players, whether it is the solutions offered by Microsoft or Google.
Another bug identified by 9To5Mac: if you change the default mail application, but keep Safari, browser links to an email address still open in the Mail application.
The ball is now in Apple’s court to correct this malfunction which will certainly come in an early update to iOS 14.
