It was to be suspected. After the global crackdown on the content pirating elite, the volume of new counterfeits available in the market has shrunk significantly, according to TorrentFreak.
Based on figures provided by predb.org, which monitors all new illegal broadcasts, the news site sees a collapse “Historical” in all categories: movies (“x264”), TV series (“TV-X264”), cartoons (“Anime”), games (“Games”) and books (“Ebook”).
Conversely, illegal MP3 broadcasts are already on the rise. Is this proof that the groups looking after them have already been able to quickly resume their activities? Not necessarily, because these groups may simply not have been targeted by law enforcement (yet).
For all other groups, the question remains open. Will the piracy ecosystem be able to recover after this hard blow, and if so, when? In any case, as specified TorrentFreak, discussions are rife on how to avoid this kind of disaster in the future.
