EMUI 11 is coming. On its forum, Huawei unveiled the deployment schedule for its future software update. Still based on Android 10 (Huawei does not have access to Android 11 due to US sanctions), this new version slightly refreshes the interface of Huawei smartphones and greatly improves the animations to make the browsing experience more fluid.
In addition, even if Huawei could not confirm it to us, EMUI 11 should allow owners of a manufacturer’s smartphone to benefit of the new AppGallery with a design inspired by that of the Apple App Store. Deployment begins December 17.
Smartphones without Google served first
HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) smartphones will receive EMUI 11 a little earlier than GMS (Google Mobile Services) smartphones.
Then other recent Huawei smartphones will be served. The P30 and P30 Pro will benefit from this update from February 27, Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X 5G from March 19 and nova 5T from March 26. Some mobiles will be able to try out EMUI 11 in preview thanks to a beta program.
The list of EMUI 11 compatible smartphones seems much shorter than that of previous years. It is not yet known if other mobiles will benefit from the update in the future or if it will be necessary to be satisfied with this small list.
Remember that in the future Huawei is counting on HarmonyOS, its own cross-platform operating system to replace Android. Its deployment will begin next year.
