Samsung is attacking the big names in the market. With its Galaxy Buds Live presented on August 5, the Korean manufacturer clearly wants to compete with Sony WF-1000XM3 and to Apple AirPods Pro.

Their strange bean shape sets them apart completely from the competition; it allows the headphones to fit perfectly into the pinna of the ear, without however being of the in-ear type. Above all, Samsung has finally integrated an active noise reduction system, from which much is expected, as those from Sony and Apple are excellent.

Three microphones are thus dedicated to this system, but also to telephone calls. Samsung thus promises clear conversations even in noisy environments.

AKG-signed transducers

Compatible with Bluetooth 5.0, they work with only two codecs, the classic SBC and AAC. No Hi-Res compatibility here, as is sometimes the case with other competitive models. The 12mm speakers are from AKG, the famous audio brand that has been owned by Samsung for several years now.

Finally, the Galaxy Buds Live’s charging case is compatible with wireless charging. With active noise reduction and the Bixby assistant listening, Samsung promises a battery life of 5:30 which we will check in our lab.

Very well equipped, the Galaxy Buds Live are available in three colors (bronze, black and white) and marketed at a price of 199 euros, a lower positioning than its two main competitors.
