AC Milan formalized, Monday evening, the one-year extension of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract. The Swedish player and the Italian club have agreed to a salary of 7 million euros for this additional year.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, almost 39 years old, is extending his contract with AC Milan for one season, formalized, Monday, August 31, the Italian football club where the Swedish star returned in January.
“Ibra”, whose extension was no longer in doubt insofar as he had posted himself on social networks in recent days with the Milan shirt and had widely communicated on his return to Italy, is now linked to the Rossoneri until ” as of June 30, 2021.
Seven million euros for this additional year
“Today, Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined his teammates and his coach Stefano Pioli at the Milanello sports center where he participated in his first training session” in view of the resumption of Serie A, scheduled for September 19, announced the club in a statement.
According to the Italian press, Milan and his star striker have agreed to a salary of 7 million euros for this additional year.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had let it be known during the day, via his social networks, that he would resume number 11 from his first stint at AC Milan between 2010 and 2012, instead of the number 21 adopted on his return at the beginning of year.
The Swede had also indicated, from this weekend, that he wanted to “help the club to return to where it deserves to be”. “For six months, we have done great things but we have not won anything. (…) We must continue and do the same,” he said in a video.
‘Ibra’ joined Milan at the end of December 2019 on a six-month contract after leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy, for a salary of 3.5 million euros, and an optional additional year.
Since his return to Lombardy, the ex-PSG striker had a positive impact on a struggling team, scoring 11 times in 20 Serie A and Italian Cup appearances.
The goal posted by AC Milan is to regain the Champions League, a competition won seven times by the Rossoneri but which they have not played since 2014.
